Air conditioning

Service Overview
Unreliable Air Conditioning (A/C) is inconvenient and uncomfortable in the warmer months—but it doesn't have to be. Let our certified Fishkill Tire technicians fully inspect and assess your A/C system. They'll provide you with a comprehensive report of the state of your heating and cooling system, as well as an estimate of repair cost.
How can I tell when I
need the service?
If your A/C system produces only warm or hot air, loud or unusual noises, or blows cold only sporadically, you probably need A/C maintenance service or repairs. Prior to the warmer months of the year, or when any of these indicators arise, stop by Fishkill Tire or contact us to schedule an appointment for an A/C system analysis.
What is included with the
service?
When your vehicle's interior is not as cool as you prefer, let our skilled Fishkill Tire technicians come to the rescue. Whether a simple A/C coolant recharge or a brand new A/C compressor, we'll accurately diagnose and restore the cooling ability and strength of your vehicle's A/C system quickly.
Our standard A/C Performance Check and System Inspection service includes the following:
· Visual A/C component inspection
· Performance tests
· System state-of-charge test
· System control test
· Electronic leak detection test (Because some A/C refrigerant may be harmful to the environment.
We conduct this leak detection test to ensure not a single drop escapes from your A/C system as it is cleaned and replenished.)
· Dye detection (If necessary; an additional charge applies)
As with all services you receive at Fishkill Tire, the parts and materials we install will meet or exceed Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications, and all used parts will be returned to you, upon request. All Fishkill Tire services performed are based on manufacturer recommendations or as needed, as determined by our inspection, and based on industry standards.
What if my car or
truck uses Freon®?
Vehicle A/C systems produced
before 1995 use R-12 refrigerant (CFC-12), more
commonly known as Freon. The Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) forced all production of
Freon after it was discovered that Freon destroys
the Earth's Ozone layer. As a result, Freon
supplies are limited and expensive. However,
Packaged Terminal Air Conditioning (PTAC)
produces a retrofit A/C system to convert older,
Freon-based vehicle A/C systems into those that
use a less expensive R-134a refrigerant instead.
The retrofit provides cost savings, as it is less
expensive—and less hazardous to the
environment—than Freon and going forward R-134a
is much cheaper for future servicing.
A/C Retrofit Service procedures vary from vehicle to vehicle and, as such, need to be evaluated on a per-vehicle basis. During the retrofit, all Freon is removed from your vehicle's A/C system. In some instances, specific parts must also be replaced for R-134a refrigerant compatibility, and federal law requires proper identification of retrofitted cars with special labels and fittings that we will place on your vehicle.
*Freon is a
Registered Trademark of DuPont.
