tire service

Service Overview
Flat tires are a way of life with todays vehicles. Deflated tires are caused most often by a sharp object puncture, but they can also result from valve stem failure or a collision with another car or stationary object. Tires with excessive tread are more susceptible to punctures than newer tires.
How can I tell when I
need the service?
A flat tire is easy to spot; you'll notice the deep sag of the rubber against the ground right away. You may also have a slow leak that lets air out over time. In either case, it is never a good idea to drive on a flat or leaky tire because you can suffer a severe loss of control on the road and cause further damage to a tire that can still be repaired without having to be replaced. Typically, tread punctures with a ¼-inch diameter or smaller can be repaired safely. While also being dangerous, driving with a flat tire can cause extensive damage to the wheel if the rim is presses against the road.
What is included with the
service?
Repairing a flat tire is a three-step process. First, the damage and cause of air leak is assessed to determine whether the tire can be repaired or will need to be replaced. If the leak can be repaired, our experienced, certified technicians will fix the leak and restore the tire's airtight inner liner seal by filling the leak. Usually what is required to completely repair most steel-belted radial leaks is a combination of a mushroom-shaped leak plug and flat patch.
Because moderate tire wear can leave a car more vulnerable to punctures, you may also consider having your tires rotated when a tire leak is fixed. Even without a flat or deflating tire, most tire manufacturers advise regular tire rotation every 3,000-6,000 miles to get the most out of your tires and ensure maximum safety on the road.
If the event an air leak cannot be fixed, the damaged tire will need to be replaced with a properly mounted and balanced tire using top-of-the-line equipment. At Fishkill Tire, we have extensive experience with many tire and rim combinations, depending on your car's needs.
As with all services you receive at Fishkill Tire, the parts and materials we install will meet or exceed Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications, and all used parts will be returned to you, upon request. All Fishkill Tire services performed are based on manufacturer recommendations or as needed, as determined by our inspection, and based on industry standards.
